Well, you should. The next President of the United States will determine the future of the world.
I am not exagerating.If they cannot balance their budget and repay their debt of 15 000 billion dollars*, we, CANADIANS, are in DANGER . According to the US Department of State, 75% of our export goods and services goes to the States*. If they stop buying, we are in trouble, and that's only one of the many problems related to the economy...
So. Who's in the race?
Democrats:Obama. He lost so many supporters by not delivering the miracles he promised. He was blocked every step of the way (except for Don't Ask Don't Tell and healthcare but this one is going to the supreme court). It's like hiring someone to do a specific job and not giving him the tools to do it. Also, I'm very disappointed with Obama regarding the Wall Street regulations. He didn't fight hard enough. When I say fight, I mean speak out, blame and expose the truth. Too diplomat some will say...
Republicans: Only a couple of guys left running. Mitt Romney, mormon. He thinks that regulations are killing the jobs in America. Pro-life. Thinks Corporations are people. That homosexuals shouldn't have the right to marry. That you should cut taxes for rix people (the 1%: over $375 000 a year). Newt Gingrich, extremely conservative. Also against gay marriage. Cheated on his first wife and left her while she was recovering from cancer and at the same time accusing Bill Clinton of having an affair in the 90s. Cheated on his second wife while she was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis and asked for an open marriage. Nuff' said. Rick Santorum, also extremely conservative. Against gay marriage and homosexuals in general. Google the word Santorum just for fun... No real plan for the economy, nice sweater vests. Oh and against abortion. Ron Paul, libertarian. The most consistent candidate. He never changed his position on taxes or religion, war, etc. Agains any war, wants minimal taxation. The most experienced candidate, his fans are beyond LOYAL.
Independent:Now that's where it gets fun. Stephen Colbert. Comedian, plays a conservative pundits. The man can work a crowd like no other. Decided to show the american public how the corporations and the superpacs are influencing the campaign. He created his own Superpac and exploratory committee. See for yourself:

Ok you wonderful internet people, I know I haven't been around in a long long time and I apologize for that. Here is a video of an insanely cute puppy to make it up to you:
Sometimes, real life takes over and, to be honest, real life has been pretty good to me. First of all: Christmas. I'm one of those people that are overly excited about it and WAY too soon, like mid-october soon. Singing some holiday's songs just brings me joy and faith.Oh and presents are awesome too ;)
Second of all: laziness. The force/mouvement of inertia. Once you stop, it's hard to get back on, especially since this blog is not a homework anymore. But you know what? I love to write on my blog. I feel like I create something, that my time isn't wasted. It feels like working when in facts, I'm really just taking breaks from studying.
Last of all: internet overdose. I was on the internet all the time for school and at home. I felt connected 24/7. Being on the internet reminded me of school and work so I just cut it. I tried to restrain myself by not checking facebook/twitter/9gag/youtube 5 times a day. The results: I lived a little, went out more (but then I have no money) and slept on average 2 hours more each night (wonderful isn't it?).
So. What's the plan for the future? Hmmm.. some book reviews (I do read books sometimes when the internet is down), some movie reviews (ok I've seen them all don't judge me), some CD reviews (although I am broke --> youtube time before SOPA kills it), some photography ( I did some before the temperature fell below -32, nearly lost a finger)

I'm changing things up today; I'm doing a TV suggestion for you. I don't know your style, but usually people don't like to be treated like idiots. For that, you have American Idol, Keeping Up with the Kardashians and so on. But for 100 American Idol, you have 1 West Wing. You have 1 Six Feet Under. You have 1 19-2 (those from Qc will understand). These series that have serious writing solid acting performances and a story that will make you come back for more.
In Treatment is one of these series. It aired on HBO from 2008 to 2010. 3 seasons of 48 episodes. It's 22 minutes of therapy with Paul and one of his patients. For example, the monday show is Laura's therapy. Tuesday is Alex therapy, and so on. You'll become addicted, you won't be able to stop until each week is done (+/- 100 minutes).
The serie won 4 emmys, was nominated for 30. It is definetaly worth watching. Please just try it out (ok you have the right to wait after the finals haha). You'll be surprised to recognize some famous faces here and there: Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Josh Charles (The Good Wife) and Michelle Forbes (True Blood).

Now, that one I wanted to see for a long time. It was just meant to be excellent. Clint Eastwood, Dustin Lance Back and Leonardo Dicaprio. It's like the first trio at the All-Star Game. Just add Armie Hammer (the delightful Winklevoss twins in The Social Network) and VOILÀ! Recipe for success.
I have to admit I had high expectations but they were met, ni plus ni moins. The script was smart, well-written and respectful of the characters' personality. The angles were neat, dark and simple. Dicaprio's performance was simply mind-blowing: goodbye attractive and confident Hollywood star, Hello fat, paranoid, sick old man. Paranoid, that is the word that could describe J. Edgar. He was scared of everything and had so much power that he created this tank that was the FBI.
Positive: Everything. Tolson and Edgar fighting. Negative: A bit long, not for everybody.
Final mark: 9/10. Close to perfection, I can foreshadow an Oscar for Hammer and DiCaprio (not for Eastwood, but thanks for playing).

Do you like shirtless dudes? Do you like endless fight scenes? Do you likeEPIC graphic and special effects? Than this movie is for you. It wont win an oscar, I can tell you that.
The film is boringLONG, almost two hours. And there is not a lot of story to rely on, only dramatic eye contact and blood filled murders. I'm a big fan of this kind of movie (300, Ninja Assassin) but I got bored after an hour. My dad hated it, my brother loved it, I tought it was Gnahhhh in the middle. Go figure...
Positive: hot guys, not so terrible acting, Epic fight scenes/special effect, JOSEPH MORGAN <3 (those who watch The Vampire Diaries will know which one I'm talking about). Negative: Freida Peinto (much better at taking care of monkeys in Planet of The Apes), weird story line, the destiny of Joseph Morgan's character (he is doomed from the start). LOOOOOONG.
P.S. Zeus is a BAMF. My final note: 6/10. Seeing it in 3D is worth it, and I got no headache so yayy! I would say watch it in 3D or wait for it to air on the Movie Network. Henry Cavill, a name to remember; he is the next Superman after all!

Part II of my new serie on Quebec's Music. This time: english singers!
Patrick Watson. You may already know him, but I bet you didn't know he was from Montreal ;) He's just plain GENIOUS, his song are always soft and sweet, you're feeling like you are inside a dream. He is one of the most respected artist of this province. Please buy all of his album: it's worth it!
Last one but not the least: Leonard Cohen. His song Hallelujah is the most covered song in the world, he is a real poet. Nobody can sing the love like him. Some of his songs feel like prayers. Just imagining that he used to live 1km away from my house, chills! I know he is old, but his legacy is inestimable.

You know what guys? I'm proud of being a french-canadian. I don't think it's better than anything but sometimes when I listen to music from Quebec, I feel proud and happy inside. French or English, it doesn't matter: we have plenty of creative artists that create beautiful music.
Today, I'll show you two french groups I adore (mostly from the 90's and early 2000's) and in the next post I will show you two english singers that I simply cannot live without.
First stop: Les Colocs ! (translation: The Roomates). They were EXTREMELY popular in the 90's but tragically ended with the suicide of the lead singer in 2000. If you're interested, rent the movie Dédé à travers les brumes to learn more about the group. In this clip, they are asking god to give them a job. To make this clip, they employed 30 homeless people for 3 days.
Second Stop: Les Cowboys Fringants! (dashing cowboys) They are still popular now and make more traditional music with a touch of activism against corruption in politics, global warning and greed. In this clip, they deplore how badly the Quebec has fallen since the 70's (when we got you know, free health care, education, national electricity, etc.).

Let me present to you la crème de la crème of Quebec's humour: Sugar Sammy!
He's a english speaking montrealer with Indian roots. He speaks four languages including french and he can make you laugh in any of them. He's a former McGill student (*proud haha*) and he loves to makes jokes about any ethnic stereotypes. He holds nothing back, NOTHING! He makes fun of haitian, arabs, italian, indian, french-canadien (harsh but funny as hell) and many others.

He presenting his new one-man show next year: You're gonna rire. It's actually the first time a comedian from Quebec does a show in both French and English , it may be a good way to reconcile the two solitudes. I have faith in him, I know his show will be make me laugh to tears (although I laugh at pretty much anything).

And I now watch it religiously, every sunday morning (TIVO recording FTW).
They have good weeks, they have bad weeks. Good hosts, bad hosts. Hilarious sketches, Horrendous sketches.
Last night wasEPIC. Period.
Emma Stone was the host for the second time and she destroyed it.
Andrew Garfield, my future husband Emma's boyfriend, joined her on stage for a Spider-Man skit pretty hilarious.

The hour and a half was fulled with new and hilarious skits. Emma Stone really delivered, you go girl!

Ok people, stop freaking out; I'm back!
I have to admit I have lacked inspiration for the past 3 weeks.
I tried 5 times to write a new blog post and everything I taught it sucked.
But I have something for you, youtube noobs: the wonderfulJenna Marbles.
She is the rising star of 2011, a well deserved fame!
I have to admit, I was getting tired of Ray William Johnson and Epic Meal Time.
Yeah they are good at what they do, but they became boring in their sameness.
So let me fill you in on this blond lady. She has a psychology master from the Boston University, but couldn't find a job in this tough economy. She was forced to take a job as a gogo-dancer. She simultaneously started to post vlog video on youtube. Much like this :
She says what she thinks, uncensored, on sex, guys, girls, relationships, politics, etc. She is not ashamed of what she does or how she looks like. Her viewers love her for it and so do I. For example, watch her demonstrate what girls do on the internet:
But, I have to warn you: she swears a lot and if you are not comfortable talking about sex, well... let's just say you won't have a great time watching it.
Ahhh the joy of Youtube.

Flavie's Film Review: Drive by Nicolas Winding Refn
I know what you are thinking: I don't have a social life.
Well it's partly true when it's raining and when there are a lot of movies I want to see.

I read the reviews about this movie last week and I knew I had to see it.
I have to warn you: it's a stylish movie with a lot of gore scenes.
If you just want to watch Ryan Gosling in a happy-go-lucky movie, try Crazy, Stupid Love.
I found the soundtrack to be particularly brilliant. Here is a taste:
The photography is mind-blowing when the director plays with the city lights.
The montage is pretty efficient to show the quick turn of event.
It doesn't tell us everything, but gives us enough clues to guess what happened.
Once again, I'm impressed with Ryan Gosling's versatility. This guy can do everything!
I saw him in All the Good Things last month where he played a 60 years old psychopath killer
that liked to dress in women's clothing. Pretty intense.
I give it an 8 out of 10. This is not your typical hollywood movie and I like it. It's clean, it's gore, Ryan Gosling: can't go wrong with that! Don't bring your date to see this, though; she'll think you are a psychopath.

Second movie review of the week, and it's not over yet!
This time, I'll be talking about the beautiful Café de Flore by Jean-Marc Vallée.
I know it's in french, but it's worth the effort to put subtitles.
I would not be surprise if this film end up at the Oscars.

This movie really touched me. I found the soundtrack delightful, I will download it on Itunes that's for sure!
In my opinion, Evelyne Brochu is one of the most beautiful woman on the planet. She's fresh, natural and played her part well.
Also, for a first time actor, Kevin Parent killed it. I really believed in his character.
If you believe in true love, this movie is for you.
If you don't, you will leave the movie theater depressed as hell.
I give it a 9,5 on 10. It has been a long time since I've been moved that much by a movie.
I strongly recommand it to everyone interested in love story and music.

I know baseball is not your thing and it will ne never be.
BUT, you should watch Moneyball by Bennett Miller.
For three reasons: A) Brad Pitt. nough' said. (Seriously, he's good/ believable/ natural)
He filled the part of Billy Bean perfectly and he is easy to watch (if you know what i mean *wink wink)
B) Jonah Hill.
He's not the fat stoner kid from Superbad anymore. He's wiser, grown-up and Yale trained.
His appraoch to baseball with a stats system is just plain GENIOUS.
You're in management? That's your application of Stats right there!
C) Aaron Sorkin
If you don't know who that is, go google him RIGHT NOW.
He is just the most brilliant writer of this generation. If you've seen The West Wing or Social Network.
you know he creates the most intellectualy interesting dialogue EVAR.
I give it a 9 on 10. It's a GOOD movie like you don't see around that much. Some scenes are just too brilliant to be true. You will laugh your ass off, I garan*fucking*ty it. I watched it in french (against my will, i have to admit) and it was still brilliant.
I do not give it a 10 on 10. But only because it's about baseball.
I know, I'm mean like that. Haha.

Actors trying to be singers are so LAME. Stick with what you are good at!
And I agree with you. Scarlett Johanson should stick to being sexy in movie
and let the grown up singers do the singing part.
I'm more than happy to make an exception for Hugh Laurie.
This guy can carry a tune like a real jazz man and he got SKILLZ!
